Regional Conference on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Methods

On 18th and 19th June of this year, the Regional Conference on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Methods was held in Lima, Peru

During the two days of work, the participating countries presented their most paradigmatic experiences on the subject, including some carried out within the framework of the EUROsociAL, the European Union Regional Cooperation Programme for Social Cohesion with Latin America, giving rise to a fruitful and enlightening exchange for the rest of the participants. In addition, the current status of the website dedicated to ADR mechanisms (MASC in Spanish) and possibilities for further development were discussed, with presentation of the Work Plan for expanding and improving this website based on the results of the missions in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and San José, Costa Rica.

Within this framework, the importance of forming a Regional Network of ADR Institutions and Professionals was raised. This was supported by presentations of inputs by experts and relevant experiences in EU and LAT. It was decided that this network would be hosted on the website. Next, the results for 2013-2014 within the framework of the EUROsociAL Programme were reviewed, and the Road Map to be followed in 2016-2017 were debated.

Dr. Ernesto Lechuga Pino, Peru's Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Justice, closed the conference by summarising the results achieved in this conference in order to continue advancing towards deepening and promoting public policies related to ADR mechanisms in the region.
