Social protection

As the essential component of social cohesion, social protection involves fundamental challenges, both of a political-institutional nature and in the fiscal and technical-operational sense. In Latin America, the trajectories of the countries have been dissimilar over the past decades. Today, however, although diverse trajectories and results still exist, a common perspective is starting to emerge related to the need to form comprehensive systems of social protection focused on rights.

This new conviction that is orienting many Latin American states and governments no doubt is informed by the European experience of recent decades, including the current era, marked by the crisis, and in which an opportunity for an exchange of learning between the two regions is being strengthened.
