Honduras opens the first center of the new national employement service in La Ceiba
EUROsociAL has helped to define the service model for the employment centre that will give free occupational guidance and training services
The Employment Centre opened on Friday, 17 July in the city of Ceiba, in the Honduran department of Atlántida, and is part of the Honduran National Employment Service (SENAEH). The opening ceremony was attended by Undersecretary of employment Ramón Carranza, European Union Ambassador to Honduras Ketil Karlsen, Francesco Chiodi, IILA coordinator of the employment area of EUROsociAL and Jonathan Eskinazi who is responsible for this line of action of the Programme in Italia Lavoro. Local and departmental authorities also participated.
One of the main characteristics of the new Employment Centre model is that it provides free occupational guidance and information services to job seekers, as well as supporting them with a personalised action plan to improve their job prospects in line with their potential and the dynamics of the job market. The Centre uses information from the local social and economic context in the framework of a proactive intervention strategy in the territory.
The "service model" of the employment centre and its intervention methodology were defined with technical support from the EUROsociAL Programme, financed by the European Union, through operational partner Italia Lavoro, the Italian Ministry of Labour. The model encompasses specific areas such as intake and employment guidance, labour mediation, administration and manager's office, meetings and a waiting room.
Based on the pilot experience in La Ceiba, the model will be reproduced in other areas of the country, seeking to strengthen employment strategies in the country where it is implemented.
