Exchange of experiences in coordination and governance for transborder development in Posadas, Misiones
This workshop is part of the support itinerary EUROsociAL has defined with the Argentinian Council on Programmes for Promoting Regional Development Projects, for its strengthening as a forum for inter-ministerial coordination
The objective of the workshop was to promote dialogue, reflection and the implementation of joint actions for the construction of coordination and governance processes for multidimensional policies aimed at territorial development of transborder regions.
The workshop served to activate these processes in the tri-national sub-region of Misiones (Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil) which has barely advanced in recent years. As a product of same, the foreign ministry has invited the Council on Programmes for Promoting Regional Development Projects to join the Border Committee. In the same line, it was agreed that new legal instruments would be analysed, using the experience of the EU, to provide an adequate legal framework for the actions already being carried out, in effect, in this border region.
The workshop was held at the Gastón Dachary University in Posadas, with the participation of 75 representatives of public and private institutions from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, El Salvador and Mexico. The Secretariat General of the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR), one of the most active mechanisms in the EU for promoting integration among its member countries, also participated. The Lieutenant-Governor of Misiones, Hugo Passalacqua, opened the workshop, highlighting that “we come to learn about different experiences […] To take things we don't know from others and to transmit what we know to others with the goal of social cohesion”.
