Tekoporã in Paraguay, first social programme to obtain ISO 9001:2008 certification in MERCOSUR
The Secretariat of Social Action (SAS) of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Paraguay, has obtained ISO 9001:2008 certification for the Tekoporã programme
The EUROsociAL programme of the European Union contributed decisively to this SAS achievement, which makes Tekoporã the first social programme in the world to receive an international quality certification of this magnitude.
Tekoporã is aimed at families in situations of extreme poverty and vulnerability which include children and adolescents between 0 and 18 years of age, disabled persons or pregnant women. Its objective is to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty by enabling the children in these families to exercise their rights to improve their future opportunities. The programme includes conditional cash transfers (CCT) and social-family support by social experts, who will visit the households to verify compliance with the conditions by the families, among other tasks.
EUROsociAL assisted the SAS for nearly two years in reorganising its management system for all its programmes, also contributing to this important public policy outcome. The activities were carried out by Italia Lavoro, with ADECRI (France), under the supervision of CIPPEC (Argentina), the three partners of the EUROsociAL areas coordinated by the Italian-Latin American Institute (IILA).
